Hi ,

I had Dave Cole make me a Gentleman's Knife, but the blade was just too small to use (street legal at 3",but a tad too small 3rd knife down in pics). I couldn't even cut up a steak with it without getting my knuckles in the gravy LOL ....

So I bought an on-sale Crazy Crow Damascus blade (3 5/8'; turns out to be just right), and had Big T make some scales for it of stag ... he added the bolsters and filing... it turned out great and fits the sheath Dave made to match my holsters ... and the smaller knife is now my 'patch knife' and fits in a sheath attached to my possibles bag when I am cap n balling it .....

My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

Nice! What sort of stag did Big T use? The top two pics look more like fossil ivory. Really pretty.

Elderly,

That is the nice thing about dealing with a Craftsman/Artist ... I can just send him what I have, tell him what I need, and let him go ... and I always get a very pleasant suprise .... it is almost like unwrapping presents on Christmas morning!

Elderly,

I don't think I answered your question ... but the answer is that I don't know ...

I agree with you that it looks more like old whalebone, but he said it was stag left over from another project ... and I didn't ask ... I just let him go with it ...

NEW ITEM:

I just made an old style sheath so that I can wear it with my Cap n Ball pistol belt ... and got a complement from one of our seamstresses on my stitching ... so it must be improving! *S*

As soon as I can figure out how to add a photo without downloading all 130+ in the camera, I will take a photo and put it on this site .... I just switched to Windows 7 and I haven't learned how to just use the last pic like I did on Windows XP ,,,, sio if anyone has figured that out, send me a PM .... *S*

It looks like the DC Knife makes a nice patch knife for my Possibles Bag:

Dave sure made you a nice knife. KT
Cheer up things could be worse, sure enough I cheered up and they got worse.

He did,

Just to prove he did nice leather, I sent him a piece of matching leather and he made this sheath to match my holsters:
