What do you think of my hat?

Greetings all.

I'm new to the forum. My name is Morgan Shea. I am a leather worker and hat maker in Lancaster county Pa. I started making hats like the one pictured below, but have not been able to find a good name for the style. Some people have said "coachman" and others "flat-top bowler". It's not quite a gambler,,, I'm wondering if there is anyone here that might be able to help me document this.

Also I'm not sure if I put this in the right thread section, as this particular hat is sold. So I figured it should not go in classified.

Thanks for taking a look!
Cheers

Call it the Pennsylvania Slick, 'cause it is.

Welcome aboard.

Shotgun Franklin

For me, I think I'd like it better with a 1" ribbon instead of the band, maybe in dark gray or black.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

It has a river gambler look to it to me. Nice. Welcome to CAS City.

Pard,
If you rolled the front brim into a little tighter V shape it would shore enuff look like the Charlie Diamond hat that John Waynes following apprentice pard Mississippi wore. Maybe "The Charlie Diamond" or the "Mississippi" mite make a fair name. Whatever you call it I like it. :D :D It has got style. ;D ;D

Thanks... We settled on calling it The Drifter for now. I found some similar hats in pictures of Mosby's Rangers and Jim Bridger.

I myself hate when someone puts a name on a hat, I know as a hat maker you pretty much have to.  I like it better when the crown height and shape are described and the brim width and a description is given.  The worst to me is every hat maker now calls any kind of a pinch slope a "Gus" even though they look nothing like Rober DuVaul's hat.  I'm old enough to remember when everyone called a pinched slope a Tom Horn, but there are less and less of us remember Steve McQueen.

With that said, a nice looking hat, not really my style, but a nice hat.  BTW what is the content of the fur in it?

There was no one as tough or cool as Steve McQueen. The fur content is about 5-10% in these... certainly not enough to call it a fur felt.

Not my style either, but I recognize quality; you did a nice job. I remember Tom Horn and his hat as well (Comes with age) :P
