Remington Model 1894 SXS Question

I have a Remington Model 1894 SXS with Damascus barrels.  Someone asked if the damascus was twist, or the stronger kind that could probably handle modern shells.  What is the difference?  The pattern of damascus certainly looks like what I thought damascus should look like.  It looks like a wrap pattern around handle bars, which I thought was normal.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The manner of forming barrels with a strip or strips of iron and steel forge welded around a mandrel can all be called damascus or twist steel barrels, Quality vary as well as the pattern but the concept is the same. The key word in your question is "probably" and I don't care for that when I set a cartridge off. This game is for fun and safety should come first so for me no damascus or twist barrels as fluid steel barrels are common and for sure.
