I never asked Dusty what the tariff was to have his chamber sleeve done.  I dunno.  I'd give Bill English a call and see how much he wants for the job.

It does make the Henry a really fun rifle though.  Loads on Sunday and shoots ALL week!!!!  Gotta love it!

have both my henry and 66 in 44 spl. got a.j. carriers in both and work fine. just wish someone would sleve or make barrels for them both that i could buy unchambered so i could have them chambered for 44 russian.would like to make them as close to the real thing as possable. anyone out there with ideas? kurt250

Close to the real thing as possible............would be a heeled bullet in a 45 barrel sleeved to 44 Colt.

Alas, no video;  But the rifle performed well.  I had one feed malfuntion that we couldn't explain.  I may have short stroked it or one round may have been a little too short.

Once cleared it funtioned fine.  And most importantly, no misses.
[Those were all made with the pistol.]

One more check out match and then the NCOWS Nationals.

A tech question for those you have converted......is your carrier fitted with a "flipper" type stop, similar to the .45 cowboy special carriers? ......or, something else?

I'm hearing positive things about the conversions..but, I've also seen one in use the past few years at some local events. This particular converted Henry doesn't seem to be as accurate at longer-distance targets...and the shooter isn't a poor shot...he's more fit than I, with a steadier hand and much younger eyes. I didn't have the nerve to ask If he'd mind me giving it a go on the longer-range targets just to find out. Of course, it could be his chamber or his loads.

I originally had the spring stop 45 Cowboy carrier on my converted Henry 44WCF to 44 special. Then decided to use the original carrier with a stainless steel allen head set screw tapped in for a cartridge stop on the drivers side. Works well in combination with 44R. blackpowder rounds and 200 gr. RNFP bullets, accurate enough for me and can easily tag 100 yrd. steel cas target if I hold sights at top of targets. The 45 Cowboy carrier(works great) I had was really for 1866 & 1873 models and slightly rounded is the bottom, where as the Henry's carrier is flat on the bottom of the carrier. I like it a lot and now can get approx. 400 rounds  44R. from a pound of blackpowder as opposed to 200 rounds with 44WCF.

I just got back from the NCOWS National Match and the .44 Russian '66 functioned flawlessly.  Only one rifle miss and it wasn't the rifle's fault.  I didn't shoot very well with the pistol (RM Colt Army - .44 Russian) but managed to take 2nd in the "Originals" class.
