Gun Spinning

Hey everyone, new guy here.

I hope I'm asking this in the right area, but can anyone give me any advice about gun spinning?  Are there particular guns that are no good for it?  Are non-firing replicas okay, or are they going to be weighted and balanced incorrectly?  I ask primarily because I have a Denix Schofield replica, but I just can't get it to spin right - it feels awkward and heavy, and wobbles in a pretty alarming manner whenever I try.

Should I be starting with something a bit more, well, plastic?  Or is the Schofield just not cut out for spinning?

Any advice is appreciated!
