Gun belt slides off.

I have a dual holster and belt that I purchased before deciding on this new adventure.  Buscadero style. The belt stays up when I have my jeans on.  However I just tried it with my costume on and even though it is tight, it slides down over my non existent butt.  The inside of the belt is smooth.  I have roughed up the surface and that seems to help.  I'm thinking of getting a thin piece of scruffy leather and gluing it to inside of the back of the belt.

My first shoot is this Saturday. I will wear my costume with my jeans for this event.

Any other ideas?

If you have a supplier or someone you know that can cut you a piece of suede, if possible as wide and as long as the belt. I would say sew it on, however if you don't do leather work using a good cantact cement like weldwood contact cement will work fine. The suede will provide friction and help keep the belt in place ( I said help, no guarantee it will eliminate the problem). If you continue to have the problem I would recomend having a set of suspenders made. I have done a couple of suspender type gun belt suspension systems for people that have the same problem you are having. The other way would be to make or have made some belt keepers that would wrap around your gun belt and your pant belt.

Many people have the same situation, . . . including yours truly.  Suede might work, . . . suspenders might work.

Unfortunately, . . . you probably bought a straight belt, . . . which works fine for folks who are not "buttless" so to speak.

A properly curved belt, . . . properly cinched up tight, . . . will not fall down in most of "our" situations.

At your next shoot, . . . look at the rigs folks are wearing, . . . most of the time you won't see the curve when they have it on, . . . but you might ask a few of your pards, . . . try one of theirs if you can find one.

If theirs stays up, . . . you found the problem.   ;D

Camano mentioned loops, . . . I don't think there is any "rule" against it in equipment, . . . but if you had someone bend 4 "S" hooks for you to go up and hook in the top on your pants or britches belt, . . . and at the bottom under your gun belt, . . . you would then use two belts to keep everything up.  Making them out of black kydex, . . . should be a quick fix, . . . should hold, . . . or you could even go to Tandy and get metal belt keepers and attach them together to do it.

Just remember though, . . . if you do that, . . . and stuff comes down, . . . well............................. :o

May God bless,
Dwight

This belt and holster set is not a real good set.  As I said I bought it before I decided to enter SASS.  My wife is going to the store to get some suede to fix the issue temporarily.  Looks like I'll be saving up some silver and get a new and fitted rig in the future.

Thanks for the replies.

Keep your wallet in your back pocket too.  Makes a nice stop for the belt to land on.

Dalton, my wallet is so thin it would not stop a drop of water.

Suspenders?  Interesting option.  I'll check it out.

Thanks

Assuming you also wear a regular belt on your pants, belt keepers (that connect the two belts together) may solve your problem.

If you do a google search, you will find a few million hits for the term "belt keeper".  If that doesn't yield what you want, they are pretty easy to make.
