I've never been overly fond of AMTRACS of any kind, especially since the last time I went to a beach on one the water was up to my ankles by the time we got to the beach.  It was running most of the exhaust gases into the troop compartment, too.  I'd almost rather ride in a helicopter!  This thing looks pretty cool, though.

They should have wheeled it into the foyer of the museum at Quantico and compare it to the original LVT-1 they have in there. Lots of advances over the years. I was mech, we stayed WELL clear of water, so the only beach landings I ever did was in LCVPs or LSTs in WW2 re-enactments...

Last beach I hit was via parachute on a little Caribbean island in October 1983.  The added armor would've been nice.
