This is kinda off the wall...what do you all keep in the little "secret" compartment in the butt on your Henry?

I have half of a wooden clothes pin in mine. Sometimes if I shoot a bunch at reenactments and don't have time to really clean properly, the carrier will get sticky and not drop back into place. I use the pin to push it down. When it starts that, I do a complete, take the sides off, detail cleaning and it's good to go for a few more battles.

That is a pretty good idea and a good place that is handy to get to.  How many rounds does it take to start sticking when you are shooting blanks at a reenactment?  I guess I am just curious, At Bentonville I shot about 250 to 300 blanks each day and with the load I am using my carrier did not stick any.  It has been a non issue for me in recent years.  We did have some that were with us that did have a sticking problem.  We had 23 Henrys at Bentonville and about half of us use a duplex load, no more sticking problem but a lot of smoke. http://44henryrifle.webs.com/

A four piece cleaning rod, just like the originals.

Adios,

The one time it was a problem, I had used it at 3 or 4 events, probably 400 - 500 rounds without a chance to really clean in between them. Since then I make sure and do a full detailing more often. But I'm ready now.
