I just picked up my new Uberti Henry imported by Stoeger from my FFL, and was wondering what the side plate fit was like on most of them.  The left side plate is perfectly fit, but the right side plat has a sharp edge along the bottom of the gun where the side plate does not align perfectly with the receiver.  It is not terrible, but is a noticeably sharp edge as opposed to the other side. Is this normal?

I had a sharp edge on the sideplate of my Uberti '66. I honed it down and all is well.

So is it normal though?  Its like the bottom edge of the side plate protrudes further down than it should, The back bottom corner of the side plate protrudes out from the receiver channel its supposed to fit into as well, but again by perhaps 1/32 of an inch or something like that. but it is aligned ok along the top edge.

Is this normal? Who knows, but it's certainly not correct. Perhaps the question should be : is this common? I only know my sharp edge was annoying, so I dealt with it....and my '66 left the factory in 1967.

No, not normal and not correct!  Easy fix, however. :)

Well, I returned the Uberti to the dealer I purchased it from (I picked it up online, sight unseen as NIB). The one I was sent had a big scratch on the receiver, the side plate didn't line up properly, and the stock had a bunch of handling marks on it from sitting in a rack rather than in the box. I drove up to Taylor's in VA monday and hand picked one.  I'm much happier with the one from Taylors.

Thanks for everyones feedback.
