This is what has had my attention for the last couple of days.
It is a little over 8 in. long and is made with 8-9 leather covered with rawhide.
The belt loop is buffalo hide.
Hope you like it.

GB, if I could take just a itzy bitzy bit of credit for what your cranking out these days, I'd be proud, I think we all keep each other fired up and going, I know it works that way for me.

VERY nicely done and for those who have never done beadwork - doing it on rawhide is the hardest of all......two BIG thumbs up..........

QuoteWill you share with me why you covered the veg tan with rawhide? Is it a strength thing?
Not GB but since I do a lot of rawhide covered sheaths as well the reason is mainly two fold:
1) For looks - it just looks GOOD!
2) It does add stiffness and toughness both - once dried and finished the radhide will take a lot of abuse and is virtually unbendable in normal use so it adds a safety factor.........

You guys are all first class. Thanks for the comments, I really appreciate them.

As Chuck said, doing the beadwork directly on the rawhide was tough. You have to keep the hide wet so that you can get a needle thru it and keeping the spacing right just about got to me. I broke about 12 beeding needles in the process and those little buggers are not easy to thread.
Joe, rawhide was used by native americans for its toughness and holding its shape. So using it nowdays is just to give a piece an old look.
Thanks again to all of you.
