Yesterday I shot my Spencer for the last stage at the Missouri Bushwhackers shoot at Pioneer Gun Club.  Functioned flawlessly, missed 6 of 10 shots - sights are a little sketchy and take getting used to.
Today it locked up on the first stage at the NCOWS shoot at Powder Creek.  Apparently yesterday I shot all the screws loose.  After I tightened them, it functioned flawlessly again and I missed some but no more than 1 or 2 each stage.  I LOVE this rifle!  Need to buy stock in Loctite. ;D

Good work shooting the Spencer Shakey,

Have you "thinned" the hammer spring yet?  I had a heck of a time staying on target with that 20 pound trigger pull until I thinned the spring.  It is now about 3 1/2 -4 pounds.  There is a thread here regarding proper grinding and polishing so you don't create a weak spot.  How did you reload?  I am thinking the next stage I shoot with my Spencer will be load 3 then reload 7!

Best rgards,

Panhead Pete
