So if I purchased an original 1897 shotgun, are parts difficult to find? Do some of them have to be fabricated?

Not every part for an original 97 is still available. But most of the basic problematic parts are either still available, or in other words reproduced. Donor guns are still available for parts as well. But.....What you pay for a donor puts more than half way toward the cost of a New Reproduction 1897 gun. Food for thought! The real thing is always nice to have, but it is hard to go wrong with a brand new gun.

St. George

There are plenty of available parts for an original.

You may have to do some looking - but that weapon had a long production life and was exceptionally popular, so parts can be found.

The new clones are Chinese-made - quality can and does vary.
