A friend of mine wants me to build him a couple of holsters for his little NAA 22 mag. This is basically the old belt buckle gun, but with ivory grips, Trijicon sights, etc. I think he fancied it up, but anyway, back to the topic.

He wants a simple holster that will fit in his back pocket, and one that will clip into his boot. I also thought about a typical hip pocket holster while I am at it.

Anybody got any pics of theres to show me and inspire???
Thanks, DM

PS. Oh and he said, the gaudier the better, so..... ::)

WBC those are really cool; I like them all, and thanks for the good pictures. I have a question

On the one with the metal clip, what's the small black piece on the bottom? I've seen those clips before, but not that black piece. Thanks!

Howdy folks, I'd like to start by apologizing
to Dalton for hijacking his thread.....and posting an whole
album instead of the one or two pics of the NAA piece. I
don't seem to understand 'photobucket' too well. Thank you
all for the nice comments though. JD, if you're talking about
the rectangular black thingy below the springclip, it's part of
the clip that I cut the leather away from.

I fixed the pics I think

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

There are three different hip-pocket holsters shown at page 151 of PACKING IRON.

The simplest is the patented BROWNE'S POCKET HOLSTER of 1884.  It is a rectangular piece of leather folded and sewn to the contour of the revolver.  The remainder of the leather extends to complete a rectangular shape to fit the pocket snugly. The edges of the two layers forming the backing are finished by sewing them together.

The most complicated still follows the basic concept but on the lower part of the backing a small open top flat pouch is sewn, with six cartridge loops arranged in two rows.  While Browne's design relies on friction to retain the holster in the pocket, this one has small belt loops, and is intended to conceal the lower part of the gun & holster in the pocket while the upper part leaves the butt at the belt line to be covered by a jacket.

The third is based on an 1885 patent by O.M. Hanscom. Similar to Browne's, it is larger to fill a coat pocket.
