So UPS pulls up and I get excited cause I know its the '58, so I get it unpacked and I notice right away the loading lever under the barrel is down already, no biggie probably came loose with shipping, but upon further looking, that was the defective part is what the lever clips onto wasn't enough to hold the latch and every time you fired the loading lever would come down much like a walker does, so I got on the phone with cabela's and sent this one back and have another one en route.

I had the same problem with mine, but didn't see the problem right off, so I had it fixed rather than go back.  Mine was essentially the latch catch was poorly installed.   It would work some of the time, especially if I shot a lighter load.   Finally just fell off.  Works great now.

Cabelas has the best prices on new Piettas and are good about returns when the occasionall bad one comes thru.  Must safer to buy from than used ones off the internet.

Good shootin', . . .  :)
