My ROA's worked fine "out of the box". To get them to fire every time, I finally wised up and got some Remington #10 caps.

Howdy Doody

Howdy Mason,
My first pair shot pretty well out of the box. My second pair was the 5 1/2 stainless versions. I had some issues with those and in a way still do. They over travel on the hammers something awful and I may have to install hammer stops. Other problems I had with them was one of them had a hammer that hit the frame on the left side. Neither of them had a trigger pull that was acceptable.
Here is what I have done to mine with some helpful advise from Rowdy Yates at Lees Gunsmithing. I polished all friction points with Arkansas stone and oil. I had to shim the hammer on the one. I adjusted all nipple heights to be the same, by measuring cylinder and nipple as a unit.  I rounded the edges of the hammer spring struts and polished. I installed Brownells/Wolf  trigger springs. I installed extended rams. I thinned down the grips and carved them for better grip/traction. I adjsuted the front sights for my load (30gr). I took the burrs off the hands. I adjusted some of mines stop bolts to lock up properly.
Things I didn't do (well I tried and failed) was change the hammer springs and there has been no need to change nipples. I do use #10 remington caps only.
Yes, they need tinkering from one to another in some way. My newest pair that I am shooting mostly with Kirst Converters was the best of them with C&B. Of my 3 pair, the newest, latest being the best, it would appear that they have improved.
Other things I have done is have a fluer de lies engraved on the cylinder at the one chamber I don't load or cap. It is easier on everyone, me and the loading table officer to have a mark and see that is the one uncapped. I leave my nipples in, because I get a lot of sixth round stages in my travels and I can just load the 6th and cap on the clock. Thinning the grips helps me, but might not everyone. I am glad to report my pistols generally go off every time. I say generally, because I have a tendency
to once in a while put a cap on crooked and the first hit straightens it and after going around the second hit fires it off. I can't remember ever having to recap a ROA for having a cap fall off. That is where the #10 rems come in. I had plenty of caps fall off with 58's before I went to rems. I had tried RWS and CCIs, but I now only use the one cap for everything, including the treso nipples on the 51 Navies.
Hope that helps and I know you will love your ROAs  :)

Well thanks for all the replys.

We polished and smoothed .

Choose orignial nipps.

cannot get the Remington Caps  to work at ALL .

Seated the caps strait. Still could not get dependable ing.

One pistol even locked up with the bolt up and the hammer at half cock.

I can make 58's work. I cannot get these things to function.
Oh yea the Remington Caps even will turn over in the capper. What a nightmare.

Can see the dragging on the side of one of the hammers.

More work ahead !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!\

Thanks
Mason

Howdy Mason,
WOW you must have issues going. As far as your lockup goes, it is possible you may have not gone to full cock before letting your hammer down onto the uncapped nipple. Not going to full cock seems to do something to bind them up good.
I haven't an answer on the caps at all.
Take all this over to the Brimstone Pistolero website and ask there. Rowdy Yates and Old Scout will answer with the correct fix. They are both C&B gunsmiths that know how to do it right.
I am stumped pard.
