Historically, what was the calibre of the 1863 percussion Sharps rifle ?

Frank Sellers quotes it as 52 but because of variances in machining, they could be 50 to 54.

Usually the bore is very close to 52 caliber, within a couple thousandths. But, the groove diameter can be anywhere from .528 to .540".
