I am going to start loading BP in 38 spec., for handgun use only. the two moulds that I have been looking at are the LEE 125gr RF and LEE 150gr RN. Any thoughts on which will work best.

Of the two, I would go with the 150 gr design. It is closer in weight to the industry standard for 38 Special and is a two groove design that will carry a little more lube. Lube is essential to maintaining funtion and accuracy wth BP.

Plus, It's a flat base design.

Got the 150 myself and it works great.  Load 18gr 3f Elephant, lubed with Lyman BP Gold, sized to .358 in a Star and went ta shooting.  Carries enough lube so the cylinder face will not bind up, and won't lead up the barrel.  Cast mine softer than straight ww.  About 30-1 or softer.  The RCBS boolit mold (cowboy) works good too, but only has 1 lube ring and I think 2 little ones are better for pistol.  Best of course is the snakebite mold   Really BIG lube ring!  You can get them from Mason Stilwell. :)

The Snakebite works best of all . IMHO that is

Of the two the flat base is best for sure. Now a 125gr if you can find one with flat base would smoke great and have a tad less recoil too.
Put me in for another to vote on the Snakebite though. It is all I use when I shoot 38spec. They run about 160gr though cast from wheel weights.
