Back in 2005 a guy my brother knew special ordered a new F-250 4WD with the 300 six.  Don't know if you can still get one.  The thing is and industral engine and was first used in tractors and combines.  Lots of the pump water on corn fields out here.

Long stroke, small bore, plenty power on the low end, not great at high rpm's.  Perfect pick-up engine for a pick-up that is used like one.

I had an '82 Jeep Cherokee (the last year they made the full-sized one) that had a big Ford inline six.  Talk about low-end power!  When it was running right, and with it shifted down into 4-wheel lowrange, that big ol' hoss woulda pulled Hell slap off its foundation.  Of course, keeping it running turned out to be the problem.  There was always something.  That vehicle nearly nickled-and-dimed me into the poorhouse.

At the time, Jeep was owned by American Motors.  Shoulda been called ALL-American Motors though, 'cause my Cherokee was equipped with that bohunking Ford engine, a Chrysler Corporation 3-speed automatic transmission, and GM brakes.

The history of my vintage 1984 partially restore Chevy S-10 with the V-6.

Dad bought it new.  Sat on blocks while folks wintered in Florida.

I got it around 25K miles.  Wiper blades, raditator and batteries.  Averaged around 24 MPG.  I got a deer with it, hood, grill, bumper, left fender and Driver's door.

Wife took out the rear bumper.

Daughter got another deer with it , left fender and Driver's door.

2007 it was passed on to my Son.  Transmission was sliping a bit.

2008 overheated and took out the lower bearing, about 150K miles.

It is now sitting in a friends yard.  He's wanting to mount a V-8 in the bed.......

I have a Dodge Ram 1500 with 191,000 on it. Good news is I have only had to put one Xmission in it. Now the Drango with 50,000 miles has had two Xmissions. I swear on my SASS badge I will never buy another Chrysler product again.
