Howdy Y'all, Has anyone ever heard of a diary written by a fellow by the name of "Chance" My Daughter has to read a page from the diary and the copy she has is almost impossible to read. Any links to a legible copy will be appreciated.
Thanks

Above roster on LBH doesn't show a Chance listed , need a little more info from the diary page.

Neither does "Military Register of Custer's Last Command" by Roger L. Williams

No diary listed in any of the bibliographies I have about the Little Big Horn.

No troopers named 'Chance'.

Sounds more like someone's figment of the imagination.

The little information I have is that "Chance" was some sort of civilian supplier/camp follower that was with the column when the Battle started.  Hope this helps, I tried all the google type searches and came up with nothing. The page my Daughter has was given to her by the teacher. It looks like a copy of a copy of a copy and is very hard to make out about 25% of the written words.

None carried on the rolls of contract employees, either.

Remember - ther were a number of purported participants who never even approached the border of the state, much less were attached to the column.

If she got it from her teacher - then that teacher needs to get her a cleaner copy.

'Sometimes' you can make a copy and reduce the tint and words emerge that were foggy.

Good Luck!

St George, Thank you for the reply, no luck on a cleaner copy, teacher said use what you got. I'll try the copy and adjust tint to see what comes out.

Hope it works.

As an aside - a teacher that provides sub-standard materials with no references, and says to use what you have, needs to find a different line of work.

Good Luck!

That teacher needs to either actually earn the pay or refuse to accept it.
