Someone told me recently that the old model Vaquero Birds' Head revolvers were going up fast in collector value, particularly the ones made of stainless steel.  He said not very many were made.  Has anyone else heard this?  How many were actually made?  Is there a web site that lists the production numbers for the various models of Vaqueros? ???

Danny:

I reckon the K-Birdsheads are getting a bit more collectible.

Those production numbers are available year by year with serial no ranges. HOWEVER----
I was told by the customer service folks at Ruger that the Birdshead S/N's were not any special series.  ???

In other words, there might be something like:
First a plowhandle Vaquero numbered as xx123,
then a birdshead Vaquero numbered as xx124,
then a plowhandle Vaquero numbered as xx125,
then a Bisley Vaquero numbered as xx126,
etc, etc, etc.

Just an example.

PS.....Not Gospel.  It would be good to ask an expert.  Like the Ruger Collectors Association.

My main match guns are Birdshead old models in stainless, and I tend to pick them out at gunshows. They do seem to have gone up some since the new models came out. Dont know if its just because its the Old model, or the grips frames.
