Has anyone read the article "Uberti's Big 50' by Ken Kempa? I hardly know where to begin. He's offering loads for the 50-95 I've never seen before....on the hot side,  and operating at pressures up to 26,000 psi.
One of his loads pushes a Barnes 300 gr jacketed bullet at  almost 2100 fps. I as always been lead to believe velocities in the '76 should top out in the mid teens.
I would print out the data in his article, but I'm not that computer literate. I hope others among you would find, read and print the data here for others to share and comment on. I hope I'm not over reacting, but am I missing something?

Hobie has said it all elsewhere in "Shooting With Hobie".

Joe:
I wrote a reply on 12/09 about this article and again I say that both G&A and this fellow are really treading on very very thin ice by publishing this sort of data.  As we who know are aware, these rifle are not Model '86's and do not have that sort of strength no matter what sort of metal is in them.  It is inherent in the design of these rifles.  I would have thought that this magazine had more sense than this but still it is a fun magazine to read.  It still makes me wonder, as I said in my earlier post, about that ring around the muzzle.  As far as the bottom flat not being milled out--oh well!  All of my Winchesters and my '76 are milled out.  Frankly, it is more cosmetic than necessary but it does look good.  I do know that I would never do what he says he did so that is about all I have to say.
When in doubt, mumble!
