Howdy everone!
I went out to the shop for a little bit today and played with some stamps that I hadn't messes with. These are Tandy stamps and most off them are a type of geometics,  since these type stamps mate up like a basket weave stamp does, you have to keep them strait, for the likes of me I couldn't keep them strait, tjhey kept moving on me, I couldn't place them so they wouldn't slip and slide, does anyone else have this problem?? My only thought would be, if the stamp was sharper or didn't have the chrome plating I think trhey would be able to stay put!
Also KT, I am sorry about putting your name down wrong ::) ??? ::) ???

FEATHERS

G'Day Ace,I had that problem when I started out (not that I am experienced as half the guys here) then I found an article on basketweave & it said to scribe a line in the center of your work then stamp along the top of the line then stamp along the bottom of the line & the rest just falls into place.Feathers

Ace, Happy Birthday by the way  ;D

Like feathers said, also I find it better to just use light taps until I'm sure it isn't going to jump or move one me, WC, taught me that, and I find it works like a champ, give it a try and see how you like it, do it on scrap.

Happy Birthday, Ace. I also do light taps to get the stamp started. If I just start whanging on it, the impressions seem to move a little.

Howdy Pal
Happy Birthday.
When working with geometric stamps, I teach my students to not hit the stamp the first time hard. Just a tap to set it then hit tit hard. The stamp is going to follow the path of least resistance, so if you tap it first it sets the leather.
This works well for me and most of my students.
Hope this helps.
