Capt'n Jack

Was looking for a 1890 in 45 but today I stumbled onto an unfired 1858 Uberti Conversion made for Taylors, i.e., short barrel version in 45.  Price was just too good to pass up.  Still wanting an 1890.  Guess this one makes me eligible for membership here also.

Does anyone know how accurate this model is if at all?  Any government use of this model?  Thanks in advance, Captn Jack.

Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Cap'n Jack - pay head to what Wolfgang says about them reproducing - his photos will give you a good idea of just what can happen when you don't get 'em on birth control.   ;D  Remingtons are like dogs . . . there's always room for one more to love.

Wolfgang - I keep forgetting to ask you about the one Remy you have with a lanyard ring in the handle.  Is there someplace that sells these or do you have to make up your own?  Thanks!  As always, enjoyed your photos.

Billy . . . I looked for years for lanyard ring (s).   Needed one for one of my Webley MKVIs that had it cut off and oversize "target"grips fitted when I bought it ( in San Diego in 1979 ).  A few years ago I found I could get a lanyard ring from VTI that is the replacement for the one on the Uberti 1890 Remington revolvers.  Worked Ok on the Webley but was much bigger then the originals ( which no Webley collector can find ANYWHERE ).   And was way too big to use on a '58 Remington.  Then last year a Webley collector posted on the "British Gun Pub" forum that he'd found lanyard rings that almost match the original Webley rings.  Numerich arms has them and they are actually for an H & R  flare pistol.  Part  #536850, $7.45   :)   I haven't bothered to replace the oversize one on the Webley.   I may or may not ever get around to it ?   Hey . . . it only took 26 years to get any lanyard ring on it at all . . . . so whut is the hurry ? . . .  ::)

". . . they multiply like rabbits . . . . "  Yep, I do know that one.  When I picked up my Schofield I realized that I had now five 45 Colt chambered guns that I had not fired.  Quickly took care of that item.  I just love the look at the range when I pull out boxes of the big 45 shells, seems many of the new generation have never seen anything bigger then 40 S&W.

Wondering what other replicas are available in 45 Colt (other then the many 73 Colt replicas)?  Still shopping for a 1890, just cannot love the 1875 as much.  Anyone know of other makes being replicated in 45 Colt chambering?

Have often thought the Colt 1909 would be a good handgun to replicate as a companion 1917 could also be made with very little change.  Guess the double action swing out cylinder design is just too expensive to make.  I do note (and own) a S&W 1917 replica has been made and sold at a price I would consider for a similar Colt.  Maybe we need to start a email campaign with Uberti.
