You have 30 day ahead of your flight to ship anything you need to your destination, absolutley no bags or whatever on the planes, when you get to the airport you have a flight suit, one piece.I know some people do ship things ahead of time as my wife will do when she goes to Texas to see our duaghter,i know there are flaws but seems alot safer.

Rick, that would work well with leisure travelers.  However, most airline passengers in the U.S. are business travelers, and they frequently make several stops on one trip.   For example, on one trip I flew from LA to Newark on Sunday, to Atlanta on Monday afternoon, to Kansas City on Tuesday afternoon, to Salt Lake City on Wednesday afternoon, and back to LA on Friday. Your suggested approach would have required me to ship four different packages, each containing an LCD projector and a laptop computer, plus my personal stuff.  Prohibitively expensive.

Also from personal experience, business trips often get scheduled with short notice.
