How do you tell? My cousin picked one up in his ramblins and wants to sale it.He asked me what i thought it was worth. It was a little rough but he cleaned it up pretty well.It has a sued leather seat and has nice tooling,i looked for makers mark and found none.I turned the saddle over and looked at the arch under the horn and i could see where the leather stopped and was tacked with flat head tacks. It looked a little wavey around that area so it gave me the idea it was probably a fiberglass tree as it sort of felt light for it's size although it is a nice looking saddle with no major problems other than being a tad dry but looked real good where he gave it some conditioning,no cracking anywhere.I thought it was maybe like those you see on ebay for 69.00 or more.

How can i tell for sure about quality, any tricks of the trade??

Gun Click, do you have any pictures.  I Bought two Saddles on E-Bay for about $70 each.  One was for decoration, and the other I thought someday I would take it apart and use the pieces as patterns to re make it.  Ambitious for a fledgling leather crafter.
