I just bought a Pietta 1861 w/ a Kirst Konverter cylinder in .38 LC.
Anyone know where I can pick up my first box of
38 Long Colt cartridges using hollow base or heeled bullets?

i see they can be expensive!

Thank you,

Your cheapest route would be to trim some .38 Spl brass and load with a hollow base wadcutter.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Gad custom cartridge has loaded ammo or just bullets.  Very good company (fellow) to work with.  here's a link.

He'll make you happy.  Give him a call and tell him what you want it for, he loads by the order.

You can also get "38 Long Colt", loaded with a black powder substitute, from Ten-X.  Bullet diameter is .357, and its a hollow-base flat-point projectile.  However, I haven't experienced very much in the way of accuracy from these rounds, even in a 38 special CAS pistol at CAS distances.

At the 2009  Firecracker Shootout, for example, I was a little short on regular ammo.  I broke out two boxes of Ten-X 38 Long Colt smokeless rounds that I had purchased for a project that never got off the ground.  On the first stage I had two pistol misses.  On the next stage I had four misses with one pistol and two with the other.  The spotters and RO were all scratching their heads because it is very seldom that I miss, and the RO in particular could see where and how I was aiming.

I changed back to 38 special rounds and went thru the remaining ten stages without another miss.

Your mileage, obviously, may vary.
