Now here's a Western you don't see everyday.
Yellow Sky, a ghost town that becomes an unlikely refuge for a band of outlaws led by Gregory Peck. It features some wonderful cinematography of the Alabama Hills, especially the "night scenes". There's a shot of an old house where the town's only residents live that was reused for a famous Twilight Zone episode called The Invaders.

That's a good one.  A terrible remake was made of it set in Africa.  99% of the dialog is verbatum from Yellow Sky.  I posted something about it on this board somewhere but the name escapes me at the moment.

Heard about the remake. Can't remember the name either. Africa? ??? :-\
There are just some movies that can't be separated from certain locations.

Yes, it was bad.  You'd have no idea they were in Africa except for the occasional Marlin Perkins type shots of rinos and lions and whatnot.

One of the things I find interesting about this movie is the music, or the lack of music. Kinda makes you pay attention to the whole affair. ;)

It's funny you say that cause that's one of the things that ruined the remake.  It was supposed to have a western feel but was full of music from the 1960's.  Also, everyone had thick Brittish accents.  The real Yellow Sky was definately a much better production.

If they were to do a remake in the near future, we would have to see more period correct firearms. It would make a nice opportunity to see some 1860 Long Cylinder conversions as well as 1863 Remingtons. A Rogers & Spencer would be a nice change, or a Starr Double Action for Dude. The Anne Baxter character should have an 1861 Colt Navy, and Grandpa definitely needs a Walker :D Colt!
