pic of the back with initials carved in.
the back is all done now.

all tools used were my new barry king tools.

barry king tools are amazing compared to the tandy swivel knife and stamps that i have been using till now

Wow, if you say you need practice then I am in serious trouble. that look pretty durn good to me.
Lost..... I ain't never been lost...... fearsome confused fer a month er two once... but I never been lost.

knucklehead

thanks for the atta boys. i feel this is my best work so far for this style of tooling.
my basketweaving came out amazing. just love the barry king basket weave stamp. the impressions are crisp and clean.

yep i still need practice.

my swivel knife cuts are still rough. now that i have a good swivel knife i will practice practice practice with the swivel knife.

still hit the border area with the stamping tools once in a while.
had troubles with the undercut beveler on one leaf. luckly i was able to hide my oops with the backgrounder and matting tool.
also my decorative cuts are not deep enough.

so yes i still need more practice. but my flowers are getting way better now. you can actualy see flowers instead of a mess like my first try at flowers. i was so mad at the way my first flower looked that it went into the fire and i went to oak leaves swore to never do flowers again. then tandy leather factory was able to get Chan Geer to teach a  3 day class in at the store, i signed up.
he showed me the way to do flowers and now i will keep doing them so that flowers wont beat me anymore.

probably wont be able finish sewing this till i get back from my 2 weeks of anual training. the army is sending me to camp dodge saturday. :( :(

Olive drab floral carved holsters? Hmmmmmm ;) SAAAALUTE!

hmmmmm  wonder if someone makes olive drab dye ??? ???
just may have to do that if i could find enough dye for the holster.
it would have to be a western holster for a 1911 though :D :D

That looks really good, Knucklehead. Nice work on the florals and the basket weave. I am looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Lessee, OD dye..... maybe green with some black mixed in? If too green, it could be toned down with a little brown. What an interesting idea. ;)
