Well, since I've mentioned the first three days of Chan Geer's class at the Portland, Oregon Tandy store, I might as well wrap it up with the last day, number 4. Thursday was a stand alone day of basket stamping; Friday through Sunday was a Sheridan carving class, making a 3 ring binder.

Today we applied the antique finish, put the stiffener boards in and lined the binder, then did a buck stitching border. Overall this was a great experience for me, and it answered a lot of questions. I didn't realize you could basket stamp so many ways, nor did I understand that there was so much to Sheridan carving. I don't really have any of the Sheridan tools, but I still learned a lot about carving, and so many other things. For a newbie, this was an excellent class to attend.

Chan is a talented guy, and I would highly recommend any of his products. It was nice to get to know Leon, AKA Knucklehead on this forum. We met last year, but I got to know him this year, and he's a good guy.

It sounds like it was a good class to take, and worth the price of admission, I think I'm ready to take some lessons from WC, we can all learn more, that's another thing that keeps this craft so interesting, you learn something new everyday.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us

Glad to hear the whole class was so enjoyable. I love learning new tricks, too. I'll bet your next project will be spectacular. You have pics of that binder we could see?

yes it was a good class. Jd is also a great guy to shoot the bull with.
dont fool yourself Jd, your basketweaving looks great also.

i may have a little more experiance than you on tooling the leather, but you are catching up real fast.
i can stamp leather all day long, its just that i have trouble deciding what the project needs to look like before i start.

i think you may be ahead of me in that part of doing leathercraft.

this is a pic of Jd finally working. ;D ;D ;D ;D

No, I'm not on the Tandy payroll! The fella sitting next to me managed to kick over my coffee mug, even though it was waaaaaaay back under my side of the table. How he did that I do not know, but I figured since it was my coffee, I ought to mop it up. Good ol Leon and his i-Phone caught me in the act.

As far as binders go, you need to ask Leon (kuncklehead) about his, because I didn't get mine done. I don't think any of the first time students got it wrapped up. I decided to take it slow and try to finish it up at home. We'll see how that works out ::)

So you really cleaned up, eh? Looking forward to the finished binder when you get it. Same to you, Knucklehead. Post it if you're done, too.

Cool, Knuck. I haven't done any circular BW yet. I like the idea, though. I'll have to try it.
Thanks for the pic.
