Holsters - Vaquero and Blackhawks
« on: April 30, 2005, 02:03:06 AM »
If you purchase a high end holster rig - and expect to use 45 vaqueros and maybe a couple 357 Blackhawks later, can you purchase one that will handle both (in the same rig) well? Assume close barrel lengths.

My take on it is the better, or more you pay for a rig the better it should fit.

I got holsters from Kirkpatrick that fit my Uberti Cattlemen, as ordered, but only a Colt or Clone will fit, not a New Vaquero.

I got a couple of cheaper holsters (buckets) that anything will slide in and out of....... But they are pretty sloppy.

If you get holsters that fit the Vaqueros correctly, you most likely will have a problem with the sights on a Blackhawk, fitting in the same holster, especially the rear sight.  That is, unless the holster is cut low in front.

I have a pair of "The Duke" holsters made by San Pedro Leather in Tombstone, Arizona that put my Vaqueros in.  I use a pair of double loop holsters made by Hunter for my Blackhawks. I bought an extra gunbelt, so I don't have to swap out holsters all the time.  My next project is a gunrig for my Remington Outlaws.
