1866 Yellowboy Dissassembly Question

Hey All,

I purchased a good screwdriver set and a set of hardened screws and went to work. Took the side plates off, boy are they sharpe, and cleaned up the toggle links and the inside of the receiver. Actually it wasnt bad. My question is when i removed the brass forend and moved it forward the forend would move about a 1/4" fwd no more. I didnt want to force it. Also how does one remove the forend brass thing? I buggered it up a bit removing them darn soft screws.

Referring to the exploded view drawind of the 66 rifle on the VTIgunparts.com website,

Unscrew the magazine tube plug (114) and remove the spring and follower from the magazine (118).  Unscrew and remove the two screws (283) in the forend protection cap (216), then slide it forward slightly.  With a pin punch, drive out the magazine tube bearing pin (281) from the magazine tube bearing (275) and pull the magazine tube forward and out toward the front.  With the tube past the wood, you can tilt down and remove the wood forend.  Pivot the magazine tube 1/4 turn to free the magazine tube bearing.  (it looks like a srtaight dovetail, but it isn't, its a rotating bayonet type firtting)
