I picked up a new Double Eagle yesterday in .45Colt with 3 1/2" barrel and stock black rubber grips, very nice!  I will get pics today.  Fit & Finish was what I expected, excellent.  I can't wait to go shooting.

Doc,
Congratulations!  It's an interesting looking little gun.  Let us know how it goes at the range.

Doc,
Have you made it to the range yet?

Davidson's had them at the SASS convention.  I spent a lot of time talking to their rep and playing with the different guns.  The Double Eagle was really nicely fitted and the more I handled it the more I liked it.  (I shoot duelist and use birdshead grips, so I am use to them.)  The action was stiffer than a one-ton truck spring so the rep took it over to one of the vendors and had them drop in a spring kit (trigger spring and new hammer spring).  With no other work it was pretty decent.  I was getting pretty hot to trot, but the Territorial Governors voted down allowing Bisley hammers in non-Bisley guns in SASS matches so I didn't buy them.  Sure were pretty and Davidson's was sure disappointed SASS didn't make them legal for ground shooters.  (It is allowed for mounted shooting.)

I always find it somewhat interesting when gun manufacturers come out with guns that have not been approved by SASS or NCOWS, but then act surprised when they are not approved.  Why don't they submit a prototype BEFORE the gun goes into production?

Maybe I mis-read, but I didn't see were USFA was 'surprised.' I'd love to have one anyways,,SASS legal or not. I'm sure they dont expect their preminum revolvers to be SASS guns either.

If I just had the funds, it'd have a home !

Maybe not this time, but they sure were when they first came out with the Omni-Potent, but then they were advertising it was SASS legal when it had not been approved.

I haven't had a chance to get to the range yet.  I am doing a kitchen redo which has dominated my time and gun money.  On a good note, I am finally finished with the kitchen and my FFL called today to tell me my Nickel plated 12/22 with walnut grips came in.  I can't wait to get it.  Hopefully in time for Christmas.

I did get a chance to get to the range before the kitchen redo and shoot a used Desert Eagle in .41 Rem. Mag.  What a fun gun.  Accuracy was superb at 25 yards.  Now for some more space for some longer shots.  I can take along the new 12/22 coming in along with the Double Eagle and make a day of it now that honey-do list is complete.

Beautiful gun.  I love the Bisley type hammer on it.  I have visions of one in 32-20. ::)
