Hi all, I received my new Holster and cartridge belt from Oklahoma leather I know its not the most expensive set up :-[

The holster needed to be wet formed to my gun. I also burnished the edges of the holster and the belt, and applied Fiebings edge coat black dye. Holster and belt now look "finished"

The Belt, however, is very soft and pliable, I am new to all this. Should a holster belt be "soft" or should it be hard - stiff? Should I wet it with hot water, and let it dry?

Howdy Sbininja,

Welcome to CAS City.

You may want to also post this question on the CAS City "Leather shop" forum. There are a lot of very knowledgeable Pards on that forum who can give you advice on how to wet mold your holsters.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

If your holsters are too soft they will will make it difficult to draw and reholster your guns.  Stiff is good with an open mouth.  You want your holsters to hold on to your guns for a second or two if you turn them upside down with the gun in them so that the guns won't fly out while you are running and moving around but you also want them to release nice and smooth.

The belt is just there for the holsters to hang on.  If it's a bit stiffer you'll get better consistency in where and how full holsters will hang.  Better consistency means that once you practice a bit a build a little muscle memory you'll be able to hit the holster every time you try and won't have to search around for and won't be jabbing around with a pistol.

Hope this helps.

Some of my early rigs are OS..I personally think they make good starter rigs. And the belts all will get softer with age. My duke belts are very soft.

Let us see some pix of your rigs.

Here is a pix of one of my friends wearing the Okla rig.
