 ;D ;)

Alrighty folks. I have had a hankering to do this for a long time, and thanks to Earle Brass for a few parts he had, I got it done.
Lopped it off to around 5 1/2", and gave it an almost matching antique finish over the weekend.
Have yet to shoot it, but hope to have that done by next weekend. Bet its a fireball maker.
I would like to have a gated conversion for it, but thats not in the cards money wise for awhile. At least I dont need to take it apart to load it.
Balance is excellent, but its still a heavy son of a gun.

One good thing about that arrangement is that you don't have to worry about the loading lever dropping during firing.

Pretty cool Dalton!

Nope. The loading lever is a quick detach separate piece, so that problem is solved.
I thought about shortening up the spare lever and keeping it on the gun, but the leverage just isnt there with that short of a lever. So we have a modified long lever that works fine.

DD, My intent is to shoot our night stage in October with this one. Part of my reasoning to get some rounds down range to make sure sights wont fall off and the aim is right.

I figure that if they have the Baby Dragoon..........

Great pic, turned out very cool. The length looks good.  I'm glad you got it all together & it worked out so well.

If anyone else is lookin' to make belly gun or needs parts for Colt blackpowder revolvers  Walker, Dragoon, '49, '62, '51, '61, '60  just let me know what parts you are lookin' for. I have a pile of Colt Signature Series parts (same as Uberti) Condition & selection is mixed. Good selection of 1851/61 stuff.

Thanks Earle.  That nice shiny plated barrel looks much better now! While antiquing I ended up down into the copper portion of the plating, and it really gave it a nice look once that started to get some corrosion and wear spots.

Well, I shot it for the first time at our match last sunday. I gotta say, it shoots pretty much to POA, and I had a clean match. I shot it for the first 3 stages, then switched to some neglected Remmys and Colt 60/51s.

I was loading a hair over 40 gr. and it was quite comfortable to shoot. Sure was loud tho, especially in our roofed buildings.

Could you show a picture of the loading lever  modification?  I have a  pair of Walkers I shortened to 6 " and I am not happy with the shortened levers.

Dalton Masterson

Sure. I will try to get one here in a bit. If not tonite, then tomorrow. Its so simple, a caveman can do it..... ;D

Heres a pic. I found one from the first batch of photos. I removed just enough that the lever still fits the screw. I almost have to push it on, but not quite. It works very well, and the one I did for my 51 a few years back is still holding up.

I will definately take it, and WAS planning on shooting cap and ball. We will see if anyone else is tho. I dont want to be the only one having all the fun! If not, my wifes opentops will be the weapon of choice.
