;D Just fired my AS 56-50 for the first time a while ago. Shot a diet coke can at 25 yds offhand. Had to hold 6 inches below to hit it, but otherwise, sights seem very good. I just installed the new sights from Ken Enger prior to firing. Definitely a superior upgrade well worth the money. It's still quite hot outside so I'm waiting until later in the evening to put some shots on paper. Loads consist of 35 gr. (volumetric equivalent) of Pinnacle 3FG behind a Lyman 515139 with homemade beeswax/olive oil lube and CCI Large Rifle Magnum primer. Defintely tears a coke can to smithereens and blows a wad of turf as well. I also shot a Rossi 92 in 44-40 with fullhouse loads just before the Spencer. NO COMPARISON with regards to grin factor. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to go with the 56-50. Special thanks to Caleb Hobbs for making me a sweet deal on the carbine, and to Hoot for all his help.  ;D ;D ;D

Hey, Preacher, I'm glad you're happy with your Spencer. I predict you'll still have that big grin every time you shoot it (or think about shooting it) for many years.

Fired the Spencer this afternoon at some paper plates I had. At 25 yds, the aforementioned loads shoot 6" high. At 50 yds, they are grouping 1' HIGH. At 100 yds, who knows? I think I'll try the 515141 with a lighter load.  :-\

Military sights.  Why do you think sergeants are always yelling "AIM LOW!"  hold at the bottom of the target whatever the range.  The idea being to keep the opposing man/horse/artillery piece completely in your field of vision.
