Hey all,
It was a lighter than usual turn out, but a good time was had by all.    You really can't beat shooting ~100 yards from where the Pinkertons threw in the smoke bomb.

Sounds like a great time. Wish I could've been there. Maybe one o' these days, who knows?

Would you be bringing a smoke bomb with you, Pink?

The Shoot Out at the James Farm is not only entertaining, but the entry fee supports the historic site.  I was sorry that I was unable to attend this Shoot Out due my club's annual Prince of the Pistoleers Tournament in Lenexa, Kansas. I hope to see everyone at the next Shoot Out in September.

Can anyone give more info on the shoot?  How  many guns? How many rounds?  Just black powder or others allowed?  Is it a two day shoot or just one?  Would like to make plans for next year to try to make this shoot but need more info.  Sounds like a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info.

Howdy JR,

The next shoot will be in September.  You can shoot percussion revolvers or cartridge revolvers with BP.  Registration starts at 8 am and shooting starts at 9 am.  There are 4 stages, with 3 on paper targets and one row of steel knock down woodpeckers.  You can shoot both percussion and cartridge if you are up to it.  Shoot till everyone is done which seldom goes past Noon.  It is an accuracy match and you get 30 seconds to shoot 6 rounds.  Lots of fun. ;D

I am going to put this on my "to-do" list for next year... A road trip to the James farm and a shoot would be money well spent.

I've done this shoot a couple times and highly recommend it.  It is the only shoot that my wife will take up a gun and shoot.   Very different from CAS shooting.  As Dr. Bob said, it is an accuracy shoot, with everyone standing in a line and shooting at once.  So not only are you trying to aim, you have the added distraction of guns going off on both sides of you.  (Black powder concussion, yippee!)

Btt, Shoot is September 19th-By the way, that is International Talk Like a Pirate Day too!   Argh me hearties.
