I'm back - regarding the beads:
1) I generall use the Old Time Beads from Crazy Crow - mostly I have been using the French ones, but they are no longer being made so I've been using the German ones
2) Part of the muted color is due to my photography "style" I mute the overall color to give it a bit of softer, old timey look
3) I age the beads - my exact process is one of only a couple I consider proprietary - it's taken me years and lots of time to get it "right" - that is matching as close as possible the look of real old time stuff. I will say it's not just a matter of adding color to get the look.........As most know I am usually generous about sharing methods, but in this case I've got too much time invested in the process and it's a big selling point to my customers so........

At least the source is a start.  I can age the beds myself. Shouldn't take more than 100-150 years.   :D

Thank you.

The finish is truly amazing!!..  I just knew that the finish had to be a trade secret. As a craftsman myself I can really appreciate the fine work and am glad that you keep it a secret .

I didn't reply to this thread because there is nothing that I could say that is not very obvious in the picture. :o ;D

Thanks for sharing!

Forty i've aged a few beds in my time too,but didn't take me that long to wear "em" out :D :D

I kind of figured ole Chuck was gonna hold that one close to the vest. There is a store called The Woodin Indian down the street from me and they have items that look very similar to Chucks work.I've looked close and can't figure it out.I made a pipe out of a badger skull once and after i wrapped the beads,i took ground up coal from the bar-b-que and mixed them with glue and rubbed on there. It was close but not that close.
Bunch a ole scudders!
