Wyatt Earp, The Life Behind the Legend, Casey Tefertiller, John Wiley & Sons, 1997, 344 pp, ISBN 0-471-28362-2.  Interesting that a book that breathlessly proclaims itself, "The ultimate Wyatt Earp book", on its cover wrestles with the question, "who is the real Wyatt Earp?", all the way through.  Debunks the debunkers, deflates the myth; more or less.  This is the only Earp bio I've read, so I can't compare, but I'd recommend it.  It held my attention and a good read.  I certainly know a lot more about Wyatt Earp now, even if I don't know Wyatt Earp better.  That may be the author's point.  I thought Myers' Doc Holliday was more fun though.

The Tefertiller book was well researched, and is the most reliable account of Wyatt yet written.
