Pards and pardettes - my tumbler had one of the springs break on the bottom of the tumbler and also had one of the plugs come out withthe spring.

The spring with the plug went back in and does not rattle but stays loose.

The broken spring is broken

Can I replace parts?  Or do I need to start looking at a new tumbler?

Howdy Pony Racer,

If your shaker is one of the popular brands, they will likely be happy to sell you the parts you need.  They will have a web site with contact information.

Failing that, if you have a good hardware store (not a Wal Mart) in your area, they may stock after market springs in the nuts 'n bolts area that will work.  Take a good spring along and visually compare them.  It's not rocket science, but you want to match the original spring as close as possible.  If you can't find a good replacement to exactly match the original, consider replacing all of them with new hardware store springs.  I've done this and it worked fine.  We need to patronize those good old fashioned hardware stores so they stay around.  They have stuff that the big box stores simply won't stock.

Good luck,

YEP! Go to Yer local hardware store and find an appropriate spring/springs.  Did this for the clutch release spring inside a racing Kawasaki and it worked better and longer than the OEM spring. Design engineers have to work within the parameters set by (of all things) BEANCOUNTERS who usually don't know JACK about real life mechanics.
