Well I finally landed a Replica 76 carbine. A Chaparral NWMP in 45-60. 5 test rounds (25 grs 4198 w/ 300 gr cast lead) down range. Loved it.....but hate the rear sight...the elevation slide screw blocks the sighting notch in the lowest setting! Anyone ever change one of these NWMP style sights out for the regular ladder style, or know of a fix for the screw problem?

I had the same problem with mine.  The screw head fills the bottom of the shallow V rear sight.  On the original NWMP carbine sights the spring steel cross piece is rivited not screwed on.  So I loc tited the sight screw, turned it into a rivit and filed it down until the head was only a few .01 above the cross bar.  A little cold blue and end of problem.

Thanks Crotchety, I'll keep that one in mind, sounds like one I'll try, but for now I just flipped it over. Works OK here in the house. I'll just have to see how it works under fire. ;)
