Went to the GUN SHOW Today!

Howdy,

The Kansas Vigilance Committee has an informational table at the Missouri Valley Arms Collectors Association Summer Gun Show.  864 tables with all sorts of guns.  Of interest to this group:

3 Volcanic rifles
11 Volcanic pistols

Henry rifles - 13 brass frame & 1 iron frame

1 Model 1865 Winchester carbine serial # 5 [800 total]

Improved Henry [Model 1866] 26 with at least three which are nickel plated

I was busy counting for a couple of hours!     

Lots of 1873's & 92's, some 1876's & 86's, & 95's.

Their next show will be in January.

I enjoy gunshows. The past few years here in my neck of the woods it's been more of a knife show though. Getting to be less guns and more knives and military outfitters

Don't think so.  This show always has a lot of high quality antique guns. 

One exhibitor [non sales had 6 of the Volcanic pistols and two of the rifles.  He also had 1 Henry.  RIA Auctions were showing 2 Volcanic pistols and 1 rifle that will  be in their next auction.  The 1865 Winchester was also and exhibitor.

Another exhibitor and about 20 blunderbuss pistols on display.  The Marlin Collectors Assoc. was also exhibiting as well.  This is the 29th annual show and has dealers from all across the country.  3 day show in July and then a 2 day show in January.  Probably only 820 tables in Jan.  It's located about 2 miles from the Airport.  Hotel attached to the Expo Center and several other within walking distance!

Any photos of the 1865 Winchester?  I've never heard of one.  What is it?

Sorry, but I did not think to take any pictures.  It is a modified Henry with a small brass forearm that would slide forward  a bit and allow loading of the cartridges from the rear end on the magazine tube.  The fellow said that they made only 800 total, before they moved on to the Model 66.  The "loading gate" gate is concealed under the forearm.

That's what I was wondering.  It's a Henry variant and not a distinct model.  Boy, sounds like a lot of neat stuff.  About all they have around here anymore are black guns and Elvis plates.

Sounds like a nice gun show ...real gun show .   I know what all the black guns are good for and the thousands of rounds they sell for them  , but am still trying to figure out what to do with  Elvis plates ..
