I found these and thought about getting them. Your thoughts?

If they fit you and what you're shooting, it looks like a good deal to me.

Marshal Will Wingam

$50 for a belt and two holsters. Not a bad deal at all. Like JD said if they fit you and your gear, and you like 'em why not?

Usually I agree with JD & the Marshal...but for what they are asking for these two rigs, you could buy the leather, a good pattern from Will Ghormsley and make a nicer period rig then the ones pictured..... and learn something in the process. JMHO

Different strokes and all that - but I'd tend to agree mostly with that Odawa dude.......... ;)

I agree and disagree with everyone!!!!!!  I personally consider the belt to be the deal breaker on your leather cost.  Apiece of leather that can provide the length necessary for a belt eliminates smaller and possibly cheaper cuts.  Tools might not actually be much of a problem for a rig this plain, you can probably find everything necessary in your tool bag, cepting needle and thread.  Actually there are a couple of guys here who could show you how to produce your own needles!  I will say that you should be able to do it for under a hundred dollars IF there is a Tandy in your area, to keep shipping out of the equation and there will be plenty of leather left over for some cuffs, belt slides, badge holders or other goodies.  I promise you that these guys will do everything to help you along the way, IF this is your thing.

Well, I was making the assumption (always a dengerous thing  :P) that Savvy Jack was a shooter, but not a leatherworker.

On the other hand, if I ran across a deal like that, I would buy it, to have something I could loan to new shooters that we run through our orientation each month. Many times they are checking out CAS and don't have equipment of their own.

Jack, I mean no disrespect by my comments; you may indeed be a fine leatherworker. I'm just not familiar with you. JD

I assure you I am not a leather worker  ;)
