I just got a new Navy Arms Schofield Founder's Model.  Shot it yesterday.  Need info on how to
properly remove the cylinder so that I can give it a cleaning.

This is my first top break and I don't want to screw anything up.

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

I would loosen the screws on the latch on the top strap and gently remove the cylinder.  Next, I'd use a brass punch to put through the end of the cylinder yoke hole to hold it while loosening it.  Next, this will come apart and clean and reassemble in reverse order as you took them apart.  I would use CLP in the areas exposed to powder and vaporized lead blast as it makes it easier to clean up. I would also get a manual from NAVY ARMS to use as reference.

I had this posted in another area, but have not gotten an answer.

My two Schofields are about the most accurate weapons that I have ever fired.

I have a genuine trepidation in removing the site in order to remove the cylinders.

Has anyone done this with a Schofield or Clone? Do I have to re-accurize the site afterward? Or does it naturally bolt where it was without any loss in accuracy?

Thanks!

Wadd,

I have taken the cylinders out on my Schofields many times in cleaning them and have not encountered  any  problems in getting them back together.  I take out the back screw and loosen the front and just pull the  latch up and slide the cylinder off the post.
