But not like you'd expect!  :D

I scored this recently. I was hoping it'd fit (I have a large mellon) but it's really too small, but I love it as a collectible. Can't be too many of these around today in new condition.
They wrote the names of crew people inside. Mine was given to one of the assistant hair dressers.

Makes you wonder whatever happened to all the stuff they used in the movie. I troll eBay from time to time for stuff from the movie but hardly anything ever turns up...

Drydock

I have a set of Leggings and an M1895 Cap from the production.  I believe Coon Creek had a number of uniform items from the movie some years back, now long gone   :-\

Years ago I found someone on line (not e-bay) who sold uniforms and equipment previously used in films.  He had some stuff from Rough Riders, Gettysburg Band of Brothers, etc.  I thought his prices a bit on the high-side so I never purchased anything from him and I don't remember his name now.  Point is, there are people who acquire and sell off used movie clothing.

Oh I know that all too well. Another hobby of mine is collecting production-made stuff from sci-fi filks and TV shows. I just find it odd that you rarely ever see anything from the Rough Riders movie anywhere, when other stuff shows up all the time online.

the uniforms and the hats in that were not very authentic at all , not a lot of research was done for that movie, you would only buy any of it gos it was in a hollywood movie ,

Hangtown Frye

Fun to see one of those hats again.  Hmmm... I think I have one of those packed away somewhere.  I'll have to poke around to see if I can find it.  It would be fun to wear it around again.

The uniforms and equipment on "Rough Riders" wasn't perfect, but it wasn't bad either.  The 100-round Krag belts were, in fact, all originals, so it's hard to fault that part of it at least!

Cheers!

Drydock

It wasn't bad.   It was good to see the 1884 fatigues, Krags, 1.65" Mountain howitzer, the Revolving Hotchkiss.

I won't even bother to mention the things wrong with that movie and script and other details.  No better and no worse than any of the other modern westerns though.

True, and that means they are exponentially ahead of most movies from the past.  Shall we consider the '92 Winchesters the cavalry carried in "They Died With Their Boots On"?!

Yep, most westerns back then were on a low budget and 92's fired 5 in 1's quite nice.  Today more of the ones who watch western movies do know a bit of history, was always that way.

To be truthful a true historicaly correct movie would be boring.

Look at the two movies made about the same subject made in 93 and 94.  We all know which one most like best, despite that the other one is more accurate.   ;D  And that is even among those who should know better.   ;)

To be truthful we're lucky Rough Riders got as much budget as it did, it sure could have been far worse. ::)

I'm still waiting for you and the other guy to show pics of your work.  BTW there are folks on this board who know what I can do since I've done work for them.  It's a big part of what I do for a living.

Spreading information that is bad on how to do things is one of the problems with forum boards.  Your lack of knowledge on how to properly work on hats is a very good example of that.
