Brady always did have a penchant for capturing gallant figures on film (tintypes)!  Great job, TF!

I'm sorry but it's a fake.
At least the background is.
The "Tiki Torch" earliest date of invention is 1973. Seriously.
(Too bad about the car, too...)

The civil war soldiers diet must have been a lot better than I've ever heard about!! :D :D

Ah, it must be my oversized cavalry shell!  Seriously, I've lost 30 pounds since I bought it.  It gives me plenty of room to stuff the empty Smith hulls in the front! ;D

Good;   The period correct folding metal church-camp picnic chairs.

Notso good;  I've NEVER seen soldiers that neat & clean in the field!  Was it for a regimental trooping of the Guidon parade?

That must be one heavy Smith. It looks like there are two carbine straps, one on the trooper and one on the carbine. Maybe, the one on the trooper is holding the lunch bucket.....

Actually, that is not a carbine strap, but rather the shoulder strap of a .58 Springfield cartridge box (without tins).  i also have a Maynard carbine box (deeper than standard carbine box with 7-6-7 rows) that I drilled out too.  This trooper likes to carry LOTS of rounds! My Smith is an "Artillery" Model, which is actually as misnomer.  ALL Smiths were equipped with standard sling swivels initially.  It was not until sometime in 1863 that they started equipping them with carbine sling rings and staple. Until then, they either wore them like the Dragoons did their musketoons across their back, or across the front of the saddle.

By the way, this was before the first battle on Saturday, so were were pretty clean.  If you saw us Sunday afternoon- we were really dirty, sweaty, and frumpy!  We died in the last battle in a nice, dirty, fresh dug entrenched position.

Was that a missed Photo-Op, or does someone have the dirt on Y'all?

I wish someone could have caught our demise on film.  I did a contorted ,straddling the trench, one leg out of the trench death pose that was straight out of a Brady pic! I timed it perfect with a close range charging rebel musket blast pointed at me (I felt the blast on my face, even though it was elevated).  It could not have been planned better.
