Cimarron 1875 & 1890 Remingtons
« on: May 28, 2009, 01:50:54 PM »
Has anyone seen/handled/procured an 1875 or 1890 from Cimarron recently?
I have read that they are now importing them and would like to see some pics of an 1875 up close.
From what I hear they now have a pinched frame style rear sight and I HOPE some nicer barrel legend/proof markings.

I asked Abilene in a thread over on the STORM forum but have not heard from him.

Thanks!

Their website shows the Uberti blade:

I'd love to have the '90 in 38 WCF, but it ain't available. USFA mentioned that caliber in their '75, which has yet to become available to peasants like myself.

I took a couiple of pics of one that was at Mule Camp.  Didn't pay much attention to proof markings, don't actually recall seeing any.  Cimarrons generally have most of them hidden under ejector housings and triggerguards.  I must say that there were a couple details which weren't too impressive.  There was a slight gap at the front edge of the grip on the left side, and the roll marking on the barrel wasn't even (top edge was too light / missing).   Otherwise they looked pretty good.  I don't know that much about the Remmies, they don't fit my hand and I haven't paid too much attention to them.

Abilene, surely Mike Harvey can fanagle Uberti back into making these with the CORRECT cylinder retention system as Uberti first did eons ago.  ;)

Or at least a more authentic 1875 hammer for that matter!
A work in progress.
