Hi
I am contemplating selling my original 1879 Argentine  Remington Rolling block (.43 Spanish),  and getting a Spencer Carbine. Where should one be looking for one of these.???. Would you go repro or look for a decent original,??? I am thinking of 56-50 cal.
Are loading dies and bullets easily available for Spencers,???. I am not set up for casting till after I retire and make a new area to cast.
Thanks  Rebel Dave

You can never go wrong with an original as long as it is in decent shape, but the repros are nice also.  I have an original Spencer Carbine for sale. If you are interested I can send you some pictures $1995 + shipping.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

Go for the original Major has!  It is sweet.  I wish I could afford it!

You will never never never regret buying an original. When given the option, get the real thing. I have never had a reproduction that I did not end up selling to get the real thing.

I'll have to scounge up some gold to buy an decent original, as I can tell with a little searching. Hope fully I can sell this rem rolling block w/ the dies and 4 boxes of brass. I'm also going to sell My Wheatherby VanGaurd (30-06), it's like new, and 30 yrs old.
I am leaning toward an original, but I have the local gunshop getting me a quote on a Taylors or Cimarron.

Major:  I'll send yuo a pm with my email, if you would like to send some pics.

Couple ounces of gold would do it, same as when they were new! (actually carbines were about 1 ounce by the end of the war)

Just to reiterate about originals - 56-50 brass for originals, as well as dies are all available. See the SPENCER OFTEN REQUESTED INFORMATION (ORI) link for LOTS of details.  You can't go wrong with an original.

Hello, Rebel Dave:

I'm not going to touch that debate about which is better, a reproduction or an original, but if you're interested in a Taylor's Spencer in 56.50, I have one that I'd like to sell. It's in great shape and shoots good, and it's a lot cheaper than an original. I'm asking $1,000 for it. If you, or anyone else, is interested and would like some more information or photos, let me know.

Well I went and got a Taylors Spencer off Gunbroker. I was leaning toward on original, but this deal was to good to pass up. It comes with The Loading dies, shell holder,260 Star Line  new brass, and 400 buffalo arms bullets , and the hard case. All for less than Taylors sugessted retail Price. It's all arainged with my FFL, now all I do is wait. It should be here at the end of the week, or early next week. I can't wait. I'm like a kid on Christmas eve.
Now I have to sell a couple unsed guns to pay for it.
