Well, here's my range report. I shot my '72 Opentops in 45 Schofield, and my '66 short rifle in 44-40  2 weeks ago, shot 6 stages with one miss. Never did get around to cleaning my guns, too busy working. Shot another match yesterday, 4 stages, had one miss again. After the match I ran another 3 cylinders each through the pistols, challenging another guy to a one on one sort of competition. Three targets, nevada sweep. Did it 3 times, no misses. He was faster but he kept missing, so I had the better overall time.  Cylinders didn't even get sluggish. Run 44Slims in the rifle and 45Slims in the pistols. No big surprise, this is the type of performance I have come to expect from Big Lube(tm) bullets. And I shoulda bought Opentops years ago, point perfect for me, hardly even use the front sights anymore. And for those extra nosey types, I went from the 2 strong side holsters for 10 rounds, 3 targets nevada sweep(p1 p2 p3 p2 p1) duelist with BP, for 10.14 seconds. I really gotta work on my draw, I swear it took 3 seconds to get the first bullet on the target.

Last weekend the Dark Crew shot 'Gunsmoke '08'.  The Four of us all shot Mav Dutchman Big Lube™ bullets.  Two from 44 Mags and Two from 44-40s.  That's a Twelve stage Three day match.  All the guns ran great, shot the entire match with no need to clean to maintain accuracy or function and will get cleaned sometime this week when we get a round tuit.

Misses were few, procedurals were a different matter.  Great writing, fun stages and wonderful props.  All in all, one of the best run matches I've ever been to.  We were able to focus on fun and never worry about our guns.

FWIW, I took home wood.  I was judged to be "Best Dressed Man".  Just proves you don't to be fast if yer handsome. . . ;D

This should be a testimonials thread. ;D

I've been using the MAV boolits since I switched to the one true powder, and I love 'em. I've had great success using them in all my guns throughout the whole season.  Matter of fact, most of us in our club that shoot black powder use some form of Big Lube boolit.

By the way, thanks for the prompt service Dick, my mold is now being held hostage somewhere by the Canadian postal system, but I expect it in the next day or two.

what kind of velocity and energy can i expect in a 44 mag?
There is no educational benefit whatsoever from a second kick by a Mule!

I'm shooting the MAV Dutchman and in 44-40 and the PRS in 45LC with very similar results.  The only difference is that I still haven't made myself skip a day without cleaning.  I guess old fears die hard - corrosion, etc.  Our monthly match is this weekend - guess I'll have to try shooting both days without cleaning.

If I find any rust on Sunday, will you replace my USFA's?  ::)

Howdy Bushrod,

I load my Mav Dutchman Big Lube™ bullets over a well compressed charge of FFFg Schuetzen bp for my 44 Magnums.  They graph near 850fps out of my 7-1/2" RVs and around 1290fps out of my Browning 92s.  I'll graph some more and report back the latest results.  I had to change from CCI to Win. primers and need to do the graph again.
