If I don't ask this, it may take years for me to figure it out!

I was watching a carving video last night, and I have to ask this question? What is the big diff, between acertain bevelers and certain figure stamps?
there seems to be a lot of simularity between some? I know there is a difference, but maybe some one will advive me!
Thanks

G'morning Ace,
B'sides the intended use for stamps by the manufacturer, you can be creative and use any of these stamps the way you see fit. Kinda like when yer stringin' fence and ya don't have a stretcher with ya pull yer hogleg and twist that wire tighter. Then ya can whack that staple into place with the butt. See?.... Right there you have a 3 in 1 tool without havin' ta go all the way back to the barn.
Hats off,
Horse Pen

You might have to re-sight your fence stretcher after that though.

Henry, that description made me laugh outloud. Thank you much for that. I had a long day in the saddle today and I'm sore as all get out but that put some spring in my step.
Just because you CAN ride the hide off a horse, doesn't mean you should.

Howdy Pal
The smooth figure bevelers ( F890, 891, 895, 896 & 897) are use small to large to get rid of the bevel line. In figure and scenery carving you don't want to see the bevel, you want it to fade away.
The F898, 899, 900 & 901 are not bevelers, they are matting tools. They do not have the same angle to the head as a beveler does.
They are for matting out sky or giving texture to ground or sometimes water. On some floral carvings we use matting stamps to continue a bevel out away from the pattern if the pattern is boredrless.
Hope this helps.

P.S.
If I didn't send you any figure carving tapes I'll look and see if there are any extras.

Thanks WC,  :)
The only figure tape you sent was( special Stampong Techniques) That is what I didn't know, If I would of known what to look at, when I was looking at those stamps, I most likely have noticed the angle and pitch! I hate to say this, but I can't wait untill Tandy has another 50% off sale on there stamps! I can make a lot of stamps, but on those that have to have a certain angle, I would rather buy!
After about 6 months onto working with leather, i told TW (my mentor) that I was going out as soon as i could, and but every modeling tool Tandy had, he said WOW, you don't need all those, get a big one and a small one! Thats whats nice about having (mentor) He has helped me so much, by getting me to slow down, I found a custom stamp the otherday (that I have been trying to make for 6 months and I can't do it) this stamp is $55.00 shipped, but I didn't buy it because, I remember what my Mentor told me, get buy with what you got untill you can realy afford to buy it! And he is right!
Thanks again WC,
