Hi guys just finished this shoulder rig. What do you think?

Made pattern and style from my own head and a lot of looking at pictures. ;D I took a few to get it right but it sure fitrs nice now. It's for a S&W  "N" frame but I can modify it now to about anything.

WOW that is a beautiful shoulder rig Pard, really nice design, and I like the way you tooled you basket weave in contrast with the outline of the cylinder being left plain, really looks good that way, your finish is first class, nice color too, I see you made a left hand and a right hand rig, Nice, thanks for letting us take a look Freedom, this is a piece of work well done for sure.

Very nice! I like the strap details. The color has a nice glow to it. What is your finish?
Nice job!

That really looks good. I agree with TW that the cylinder area being not stamped is a nice contrast to the basketweave below. Good-looking holster. Thanks.

Thanks everyone!......... I will narrow the next one down a little.  It will look better made around a Single Actoin, the big Smith has a large crane area ahead of the cylinder.

The finish is Fiebings "Dark Brown" antique first, and then good old Shepp's 100% neatsfoot oil. I added some Skidmores after she dried to give it that glow. I use a piece of sheep's skin with the  wooll trimed way back to apply the antique and to buff the antique off once it is dry. This leaves just a little color in the pores and tooling.

I burnished the edges with the antique, rubbed in real smooth, then polished with a burnishing wheel that I made from deer antler for my dremel tool. Followed by a couple bee's wax treatments melted in with the burnishing wheel.

Not all my leather finishes  or tools like this side does, it just turns such a nice golden color I really enjoy working with it....I buy it from a saddle maker and it is pretty expensive but he wont tell me where he gets it.

It is heavy, 12oz. fairly consistant. OverKill, well probly, but it really makes me feel like I am making something that will last,  the way things should be made.  The straps are made from the same leather and just skived/split down to about 6oz.  The edgelines really add to the cleaness look  of most things. I use a little edger that I made from a deer antler to get the lines on small straps.

I really appreciate the input me from you guys. Thanks

Nice lookin' rig, pard.
While (in the interest of full disclosure  ;D ) I will say that my personal taste preferences do not include basketweave stamping, you have done a very attractive job of it. Finish looks very nice, too.

Good job, Freedom.
